The museum opened in 1968, as a result of a donation made by the descendants of the Muresian family. The Romanian state provided, for the organization of the Museum, the necessary needs, a very valuable collection of furniture, paintings, sculpture, and especially an archive of inestimable cultural value, the number of which exceeds more than 25,000 documents. The museum is dedicated to the memory of many members of this family with great advantage in the cultural and political life of their time.
