One of Bucharest's most exciting department store and library dating back to the late 19th century, the building was home to a communist-era department store, before being neglected for nearly a quarter of a century until it reopened two years ago after a lengthy renovation. The building has been brought back to life by a team of architects and it is impressive that even if you weren't there to order any books. Alongside the thousands of books and gifts for sale there is a gallery and exhibition space, and a bistro on the top floor serving fresh and delicious food.
