The Canadian Air and Space Museum focuses on aviation in Canada within an international context from its beginnings in 1909 AD to the present day. The museum includes departments of aviation technology and the museum's collection and mandate have grown to include space flight. The collection itself consists of more than 130 aircraft and artifacts (propellers and engines). It is the largest aviation collection in Canada, and the museum is also considered one of the finest aviation museums in the world. The museum features the largest surviving piece of the original kandar used on the space shuttle Endeavor .
