Calderão Verde is an impressive natural trail created in the 18th century that starts from the main stream of Calderão Verde and passes through cliffs and steep mountains and carries water that flows from the highest mountains of Madeira to be used to irrigate the farmlands of the town of Faial. Also an important way to explore the deep valley of the São Jorge River on foot, it provides travelers with a stunning view of the mountainous terrain in the interior of the island, and allows them to walk through tunnels carved into the rock.
