Caldera das Cité Sidades is located about 17 km northwest of Ponta Delgada and is considered one of the main natural attractions on the island of São Miguel. It is characterized by a picturesque landscape, with a circumference of 12 km and a diameter of 7 km, it was formed by the collapse of a volcanic crater during a massive eruption in prehistoric era. Along with three small lakes, the caldera is filled with two large lakes of approximately equal size and boasting stunning green, crystalline waters.
