The Byzantine Church, also called the Church of Petra, is a fine example of ancient Petra architecture in the Byzantine period. Western, and the materials used in building the church, including windows, doors, and reliefs, date back to the Nabatean and Roman periods. The Byzantine church is a discovery point with 150 papyri that have provided scholars with valuable information about life both in Byzantine Petra and in the surrounding countryside.
