Bukhaansseong Castle was first built in 132 AD during the reign of Baekje under King Gaeru, and served as the northern fortress that protected Baekje from Goguryeo's forces. In 475 AD, the castle fell to Goguryeo after A fierce battle, and as a result, King Gaero was killed and Princess Baekje fled to Ungjinseong Castle. Although the castle collapsed and was rebuilt, Bukhanasseong Castle continued to play an important role in protecting the capital throughout the history of the war in Korea.
