One of Bremen's most famous monuments, the Statue of Roland is located in the heart of the city's main market square. It is a huge stone statue about 5.47 meters tall. One of the city's most famous knights is represented by Roland, built from the year 140. The example shows the Roman emperor as the protector of the city with his legendary sword known to be unsheathed, and in the other hand his shield decorated with the image of the two-headed imperial eagle.
