Established in 1638, this picturesque garden is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It was originally a medicinal herb garden, and in 1877 it became part of the University of Amsterdam. Today, there are more than 6000 plants comprising 4000 species of flowers in the garden and greenhouses. With its tropical greenhouses, it's also a great place to visit on a cold, rainy day! The garden also includes many types of rare plants, the garden is designed in a striking way and suits its purpose.
