The Diomedis Botanical Gardens first opened to the public in 1975 on the basis of a donation to the Greek state by politician and economist Alexander Diomidis and covers an area of 1,860 acres. The gardens feature large trees and winding paths beneath, flowerbeds in colorful blooms, gorgeous herb gardens, pools filled with water lilies and turtles hiding under their leaves, greenhouses filled with assorted aloe vera plants, and a beautiful bamboo grove. All this is accompanied by the scent of fresh flowers and multicolored butterflies. It is truly a wonderful place to enjoy and explore as it is full of amazing nature.
