Beneath the porch of the Old State House in the heart of Boston, a circle of granite floors marks the site of the Boston Massacre, which took place on March 5, 1770, when an unruly group of colonists taunted British soldiers by throwing snowballs and stones, after which the British shot and killed the crowd. Five of the citizens, whose blood traces remained on the ground.
