Located on the island of Java, the historic Borobudur Temple is the largest Buddhist monument in the world, majestically occupying a hilltop overlooking lush green fields and distant hills. The temple is distinguished by its unique design that reflects the art of Gupta architecture that was followed in India, with a total area of about 2500 square meters, and decorated with 2,672 paintings and 504 statues, and was built without using any cement or mortar, and its external structure resembles a group of huge interlocking Lego blocks held together without any glue.
