Due to its hilltop position, Blois Cathedral can be seen from almost anywhere in and around the beautiful city of Blois. Unlike most great cathedrals, it has only one tower, probably because it began as a church before it was elevated to the status of cathedral in 1697. Most of the cathedral's windows were destroyed by bombing during World War II, but over time, they were replaced and repaired.
