Information about Bet She'arim National Park
Beit Shearim is a small village dating back to the Roman era in the country. This area was prosperous since its establishment in the ninth century BC until its demise in the early twentieth century. In this village, an amazing Roman cemetery was found containing several tombs and 130 inscriptions, most of them in Greek, seven of them in Palmyra and some inscriptions in Hebrew. There are some scholars who say that the Jewish village was established after the Jews were expelled from Jerusalem and moved to the north in the Roman era, but it is not certain.
