Overlooking the southern waters is the Beruwala Lighthouse, also known as the Barberene Lighthouse, a magnificent 19th-century archaeological landmark located on Barberene Island off the shores of nearby Bentota. Coconuts and expanses of sand, perched on top of a cliff 20 feet above sea level, offer 360-degree panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and surrounding areas.
