The museum is located in the oldest building in Westville, and features massive stone walls and hand-carved wooden floorboards, and the garden as a perimeter adds an air of tranquility. While photographs and records document the gradual growth and success of neighborhoods as well as the role of these settlers during the South African War (1899-1902) and World Wars I and II, the museum houses a reference library housing a large collection of South African military history.
