The Benedictine Monastery of St. Mary is a small church designed in the beautiful Roman style, with an ancient bell dating back to 1066 AD, and it is located in the same amazing area of the Church of St. Donatus. During World War II, when the city was part of Italy, the church and its surroundings were destroyed by Allied bombing, and then the church was reconstructed and restored and stands today as one of the most important landmarks in Zadar.
