The country's first national park. Established in 1970, the Bavarian Forest National Park has a current area of 243 square kilometres, with nearly 200 kilometers of cycling trails and nearly 80 kilometers of cross-country ski trails, offering visitors plenty of opportunities to explore this stunningly beautiful region of the wilderness. Also some mountain rivers that lead to Lake Rachelsee, the only glacial lake in the park. There are a number of distinct trails available to explore as well as a wildlife enclosure that houses the most species of animals and birds.
