This city is one of those which shows a religious motive in a more sincere manner of sanctification. Its official cathedral is surrounded by visible bronze Guanche statues, as it displays the image of La Morenita, the patron saint of the Canary Islands. The church itself is a meeting point for thousands of pilgrims every August 15, who rise at dawn that day (or even earlier ) made long walks from all over the island to honor him.
