Barzan Towers is one of the most important archaeological landmarks for the city of Doha, and for Qatar in general. These towers are said to have been erected to protect valleys, where precious rainwater was collected and to monitor the approach of ships, and they could also have served as observatories for determining the dates of the lunar calendar. The Barzan Towers were built by Sheikh Muhammad Bin Jassim Al-Thani. Barzan is the name given to the western tower, which is 14 meters high, consists of three levels, and with its distinctive T-shaped shape, is unique in the Gulf region. The eastern tower, which is also built with stones and mud, has a typical rectangular shape.
