The Banana Dock awaits its visitors in its privileged location at the entrance to Kaohsiung Port between the sea and green hills, telling them the story of Taiwan's export of bananas through the port to Japan and other markets. Banana export trade to Japan is no longer as popular as it used to be. The pier is used to encourage tourism, as there are many tourist souvenir shops, a showroom that introduces visitors to the story of Taiwanese bananas, and a terminal for international cruise ships.
