The fountain located directly inside the gate is distinguished by typical Tetouan tiles and inscriptions from the eighteenth century verses praising the city’s ruler, Omar Lugash. The door is considered one of the most important historical monuments preserved in the city of Tetouan, which was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
