An oval-shaped island in the Nile in Aswan that was transformed in the nineties of the nineteenth century into a botanical garden, where exotic plants and trees were imported that suit the Aswan climate. The Botanical Garden was built in 1899 under the supervision of the Ministry of Irrigation and turned into an experimental station for plants from the tropics in 1928. In addition to the local trees and plants in Aswan, there are many trees that were brought from abroad to be planted and used in the wood industry.
