Museum of Asian Art, located within Volunteer Park in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, is also part of the Seattle Museum of Art. This museum occupies an Art Deco building, built in 1933, and listed in the District's Register of Historic Buildings, which was the original home of the Seattle Museum of Art, but the main collection has moved to the newly built Seattle Museum of Art building, in downtown Seattle. The building in Volunteer Park remained closed until 1994 and reopened as the Seattle Museum of Asian Art, and now displays an extensive collection that includes sculptures, paintings, ceramics, carpets, and many other Asian art.
