The Arkady Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery, located on a fertile plateau 23 km southeast of Rethymnon on the Greek island of Crete. It dates back to the sixteenth century, and is characterized by Renaissance influence and Baroque architecture. This amazing monastery holds a large part of Cretan history, as it witnessed the revolt of Crete against the Ottoman Empire, and the building includes a museum, a church and some storage areas.
