Amathos is one of the oldest cities in Cyprus, which was formed in a special place in the city in 1100 BC, and the city is closely associated with history and mythology. The ruins of the ancient city of Amathos are located on a coastal hill and currently consist of two separate sections, upper and lower, and some ruins that are still undiscovered to this day. Many of the finds discovered during archaeological excavations were transferred to the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia and the Archaeological Museum in Limassol. Some of the pieces were sent to the British Museum and the Louvre.
