This church is considered the oldest historical building in the small town of Lungern, and it is not considered a church at the present time because what remains of the church is only its high tower. The church was built in the thirteenth century, and in 1989 a 78-step staircase was built to the tower, and the tower has served as an observation platform since then, as people visit it for stunning panoramic views of the vast green fields of Longern and the old buildings.
