At the foot of the Nordket River above the rooftops of Innsbruck, capital of the Tyrol province, is the Alpine Zoo at an altitude of 750 metres, which houses about 2,000 animals of about 150 species in the Alps over an area of just over 4 hectares in nature areas, terrariums and aquariums. No other zoo in the world displays such a full range of wild animals from the Alpine region, and this is what gives this zoo its badge of excellence.
