Information about Almoravid Koubba
The Almoravid Dome is a small monument in Marrakesh, Morocco. It dates back to the twelfth century. The dome is the oldest building in Marrakesh, as it was built in 1064 AD. It is the only remaining example of architecture from the Almoravid dynasty that is still in the Red City, and the dome was used mainly for ablution. It drew its water from an underground system and poured water from bronze tubes. The interior of the Almoravid dome is lavishly decorated, and the floral patterns and calligraphy engraved in the walls of the structure are still remarkably primitive.
