Almaty Zoo is located on the eastern side of the city and opened in 1937. It is one of the oldest zoos in Kazakhstan. It is now more than 75 years old, so it is distinguished by its traditional design, and includes in its collection examples of the unique and diverse wildlife of Kazakhstan, which contains more than 350 Species and about 6000 different animals such as white bears, Himalayan bears, tigers, Persian leopards, elephants, zebras, yaks, deer, markhors, American condors, eagles, crows, snakes and crocodiles.
