This former harbor was built in 1885 and is considered the oldest warehouse in Old Havana which has endured the passage of time and has been perfectly preserved. After a painstaking restoration process that lasted nearly three years, the monumental edifice reopened in 2009 as a handicraft market. It is also a cultural center with art galleries, theater performances, recreational activities for children and most importantly also the largest handicraft market on the island.
