Information about Ali & Nino Statue
Two stunning iron statues were designed by Georgian sculptor Tamara Kvesitadze. This huge sculpture was designed to tell the story of two characters from an Austrian tragic novel, the hero of which is Ali, the Azerbaijani Muslim who loved Nino, a Georgian princess, and the story of their love culminated in marriage despite the differences. However, these differences returned shortly after their marriage, as Ali had to go to war, Nino waited many years for him to return, but he never came back. These two models were designed from separate pieces of iron between spaces, and at seven o’clock each day the two models move to overlap each other, but despite their overlapping, the two models do not tell a story of love and unity, as the ironworks may seem to the viewer that they are adjacent and overlapping, but they never meet.
