A museum dedicated to the cultural history of the Åland Islands, the museum is located in the heart of Mariehamn, the island's capital. The museum's exhibits cover the history of the island from the time of the first humans 7500 years ago until today. The islands went through an era when they were under Swedish rule and an era when they were under Russian leadership, all of which left their mark on the islands and affected the culture of the locals in one way or another. Among the exhibits in the museum, visitors will find paintings, clothing, ancient pharmacy tools, hunting tools and much more.
