Information about Alacati Pazaryeri Camii
This mosque was built in 1874 as a Greek Orthodox church for the originally Greek city of Alazata, but after the exchange of residents in 1923, the name of the city was changed to Alacati, and the church was turned into a mosque. This building functions as both a mosque and a church today. This mosque and church in Izmir is one of the rare examples of interfaith tolerance. When you enter this building in the center of Alacati, you will see that some interior areas are separated by a curtain, and behind the curtain there is a church that the tourist can visit as well.
