This new museum (built between 1999 and 2000 and opened on March 10, 2001), serves as a hands-on laboratory for the study of marine mammals and birds in the far south of South America, particularly in Tierra del Fuego, where its aim is to promote culture and science about the science of science. Biology and pathology of seabirds and marine mammals, specimens were collected through periodic surveys of beaches and other areas of Tierra del Fuego, the island region of the southernmost archipelago of South America.
