Aberdeen Falls is named after the city of Aberdeen; Scotland's third largest city and capital of Aberdeenshire, it is located less than 20 kilometers from the town of Kitulgala, and originates from Kihilgamo Oia; One of the main tributaries of the Kelani River, the height of the top reaches nearly 100 metres, making it one of the eighteenth highest waterfalls in the country. According to local folklore, a tunnel is said to run between Aberdeen Falls and the nearby Laxapana Waterfall.
