Information about 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan
Taiwan Earthquake Museum 921 is one of the historical scientific museums witnessing the effects of one of the natural disasters that befell the city of Taichung. In 1999, an earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck the central part of Taiwan, and the loss of life and damage to property made it one One of the worst natural disasters of the last century. In the aftermath of the 921 disaster, the local government decided to preserve some earthquake-related phenomena such as fault line slips, collapsed school structures, elevated river basins and other sites selected to serve as a reminder to the public of the need to prepare for such disasters and to provide emergency rescue services. Today, part of these buildings have been renovated to serve as institutes to advise and guide students on appropriate action in the event of such disasters.
