The 25 April Suspension Bridge is one of the most famous landmarks in Lisbon. It is the only bridge in the south of the city. It spans the mouth of the Tejo River at its narrowest point. Its massive structure is very similar to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and its name mentions the history of the Portuguese Carnation Revolution in 25 April 1974. The suspension bridge connects the city of Lisbon on the north bank with the Alameda districts on the south bank, and is a wonderful entrance to the capital.
