Tübingen is a traditional university town in the center of the state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It is located 30 km (19 mi) south of the state capital, Stuttgart, on a ridge between the Neckar and Ameer rivers. As of 2014, about one in three people living in Tübingen is a student. The city is characterized by its beautiful nature and modern architectural style, in addition to the presence of many rivers and lakes that pass through its territory. Tubingen is distinguished by outstanding culture and arts. It also hosts many formal and informal university events ranging from poetry performances to parties hosted by the student associations of each college, the city can boast of many choirs and theater companies. Also, the city's art gallery houses two or three famous international galleries each year.
