A city on the Black Sea coast and is the capital of the Abkhazia region in Georgia. It has a population of about 70,914 people. Sukhumi has the distinction of being the main sea port in the country. The landscapes and natural terrain in Sukhumi vary between farms, valleys, forests, botanical gardens in the Caucasus, which date back to 1840, and springs, along with its wonderful subtropical climate that makes it a tourist destination. The most characteristic of the city of Sukhumi is its richness with its health resorts and sanatoriums rich in mineral water, in addition to its enjoyment of many tourist destinations and wonderful beaches. The city of Sukhumi also includes a number of historical and archaeological monuments. The city still preserves these landmarks, the most important of which are the Arcadian Bridge, the Roman walls, and the Ottoman fortress.
