Kandy is a large city in the center of Sri Lanka. It is located on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which is home to tea plantations and ecologically diverse rainforests. In the heart of the city lies the scenic Kandy Lake (Bogambara Lake), known for its scenic nature that tourists come to picnic, enjoy and relax. It is also famous for the diversity of nature in it, including lakes, mountains, hills, rivers, waterfalls, and gardens of various kinds, such as spice gardens, flower gardens, and zoos. Kandy is also famous for its sacred Buddhist sites, including the Shrine Temple (Sri Dalada Maligwa), which is celebrated in the grand annual Esala Perahera procession. It also contains many museums and monuments that are worth a visit.
