The Costa Brava is a coastal region stretching from Barcelona to the French border, characterized by cute little towns and villages, rugged rocky coasts, mountain peaks, stunning beaches and charming turquoise coves, and is home to some of the country's best beaches, which may not be long and sweeping, but they are small and picturesque, surrounded by High cliffs and unique rock formations. The Costa Brava was given this name by the Catalan writer Ferran Agullo in 1908 and means "wild coast".
