Renewing the Jordanian passport - all the details!

Jordanian passports are ranked 85th in the list of passport rankings around the world according to the “Guide” index. This passport allows its holders to enter 20 destinations without the need for a visa. They can also obtain a visa upon arrival for an additional 28 destinations, in addition to the possibility of obtaining an electronic travel permit to visit 2 destinations. Despite these possibilities, holders of this passport must obtain a visa in advance to travel to 138 countries.
When the Jordanian passport expires, its owner must renew it electronically or visit embassies and consulates abroad to obtain a new passport.
Conditions for renewing a Jordanian passport:
1. The individual must have an active account.
2. Obtaining a personal identity card if the person is over the age of sixteen.
3. Activate the fingerprint on the smart card to ensure that the account holder receives the passport.
4. The guardian (father or mother) has the right to submit a request to update a passport electronically for their minor children in the event that the marital relationship continues.
5. If the applicant is not the head of the family, he must add the beneficiaries to his list of beneficiaries with the office secretary and attend in person.
6. The divorced/widow must present a temporary guardianship certificate issued for the minor by the Sharia court.
7. The passport must be expired, have less than 180 days left to expire, or have full pages.
8. The presence of a deferred military service book for individuals inside the country.
Documents required to renew a Jordanian passport:
1. One personal photo.
2. Smart ID card.
3. Bridge cards for individuals who hold them.
4. Deferred education service booklet for individuals in the age group (18-40) inside the country.
5. Letter of approval from the armed forces for recruits and their spouses.
6. Current passport being renewed.
7. Foreign passport for individuals who hold it.
Procedures for renewing the Jordanian passport online:
1. Log in to your activated electronic account or visit the electronic admission window in one of the offices or embassies.
2. Choose the type of service from among the passport services.
3. Identify the applicant if you are applying at the office or embassy.
4. Choose the beneficiary from the list of beneficiaries.
5. Fill in the mandatory fields.
6. Upload a personal photo.
7. Download the required attachments.
8. Choose the method of delivering the old passport: choosing an office to deliver the passport and completing payment and receipt, or choosing one of the delivery companies for payment and delivery, or delivery to the embassy (for individuals outside the country), or delivery to the admission officer in the electronic admission window in the offices.
9. You will receive a text message and an email requesting that the application be submitted for tracking and waiting for the necessary approvals to complete the procedures.
10. You will receive a text message and email confirming that the payment mechanism has been completed, or visit the relevant department to complete the procedures.
11. After completing the previous procedures, choose the payment method: electronic payment via efawateercom (inside the country), payment through the embassy (for individuals outside the country), or choosing an office from the department’s offices for cash payment.
12. Choose the method of receipt: receipt at the embassy (for individuals outside the country), or receipt at offices (for individuals inside the country, whether they are the beneficiaries themselves or others), or receipt via one of the delivery companies after selecting it from the available list.
13. You will receive a message and email stating that the order is ready for collection, whether from the chosen office, the embassy, or through delivery companies.
14. The delivery employee through the delivery companies takes the applicant’s fingerprint to deliver the passport.
The time taken for the Jordanian passport renewal service varies according to the case:
- At embassies: it takes about 45 minutes.
- For residents outside the country: it takes about 14 days.
- Electronic submission: It takes from one hour to 4 working days.
Jordanian passport renewal fees vary depending on the case:
- 20 dinars for certain categories, such as members of the armed forces and security services.
- 25 dinars for those under sixteen.
- 50 dinars for individuals over the age of sixteen if their passport is expired or has less than 180 days remaining.
- 100 dinars for those residing outside the country or holding a passport valid for more than six months.
A fee of 25 piasters is charged for electronic payments via efawateercom, and a delivery fee of 2.5 dinars is added when ordering via the Jordan Post Company.
