British visa for Jordanians

The UK Government has made an important announcement regarding changes to visitor visa requirements for individuals arriving from several countries. According to this ad:

  1. Visit visa requirements will be canceled for citizens of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and Jordan.

  2. Instead, they will be given an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) costing £10 ($12), valid for two years. Thus, travelers coming from the mentioned countries will have entry requirements similar to those required for citizens of the United States and Australia.

  3. This program will be implemented from October 2023 for Qatari citizens, followed by the remaining GCC countries and Jordan in February 2024.

  4. There are plans to expand this initiative globally throughout 2024.

These are the changes announced by the UK Government, and will have a significant impact on the travel requirements of citizens of the countries in question.

Does a Jordanian citizen need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter the United Kingdom?

Yes, as of 22 February 2024, a Jordanian citizen will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter the UK. This means that you will have to obtain an eTA before you travel to the UK if you are a Jordanian citizen. This requires additional procedures to obtain a permit and possibly pay a specific fee. Please be aware of these changes and take action to obtain the required authorization before you travel.

How much does a British electronic visit permit from Jordan cost?

The British e-visit permit costs £10 per applicant from Jordan.

This e-permit is required for people who do not require a visa to travel to the UK.

This permit allows you to travel and stay in the United Kingdom for a period of up to 6 months for tourism, visiting family and friends, work, or study. It is linked electronically to your passport and allows you to cross the UK if you are not subject to border control. You must obtain this permit before you travel to the UK and pay its specified cost.

To apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter the UK, you must follow these steps:

  1. Download the UK ETA app or access the GOV.UK website.

  2. Fill out the application form with all required information, including personal identification and travel information.

  3. Ensure that all travellers, including children and infants, submit a separate application for the permit.

  4. You may need to provide additional documentation or conduct further verification depending on your personal situation.

  5. After submitting your application, you will usually receive a decision within 3 business days. The decision may be issued sooner in some cases.

  6. If further checking is needed, it may take longer than 3 business days.

Make sure you complete the application process well in advance of your travel to the UK to ensure you receive your eTA in time.

How will you obtain an electronic travel authorization?

  1. You will receive a confirmation email if your application has been approved.

  2. Your ETA will be linked electronically to the passport you applied with. You must use the same passport while travelling.

After you obtain your electronic travel authorization:

  • After you have a two-year permit to enter the UK, if your passport expires in less than two years, you will need to obtain a new ETA.

  • You can use it to make multiple visits to the UK. You still need to use the ePassport portal if you're eligible or visit a border officer to enter the UK.

  • ETA does not guarantee entry into the UK.

If your Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is denied, you can take the following options:

  1. Apply for a conventional visitor visa: You can apply for a conventional visitor visa to visit the UK. This requires filling out the required form, submitting the necessary documents, and registering for the interview appointment at the relevant British embassy or consulate.

  2. Temporary Work Visa / Creative Worker Visa: If you intend to come to the UK as a creative worker or want to work temporarily there, you can apply for a Temporary Work Visa or Creative Worker Visa.

  3. Transit visa: If you only intend to transit the UK without staying there for a long time, you can apply for a transit visa. A transit visa allows you to transit through the UK to reach your final destination.

The requirements and conditions for each type of visa listed above must match the purpose of your visit and your personal circumstances. Please check the official website of the British Embassy or Consulate in your country for further details and guidance on how to apply for the appropriate visa.
