The Church of Our Lady of Cure was built on top of Mount Saint Stephen in Lamego between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, and is visited by pilgrims from all over the country, especially on September 8; On the day of the Virgin’s birth, the huge baroque staircase of 686 steps that gives access to the church is divided into several levels interspersed with distinctive sculptural elements, such as statues of kings, eight fountains, and others. The church has interior designs in the amazing Rocaille style.
