The Dionysius Solomos Museum is named after the Greek national poet who spent the longest part of his life in Corfu and the city dedicated this building as a cultural monument celebrating his legacy and preserving his poetry. Although the Second World War left a devastating impact on the house in which he created most of his works, it was restored and put the table on which he wrote his poems, some of his manuscripts, his personal belongings, and a number of photos documenting the important events that he witnessed to inform visitors of his journey.
