It houses more than 4,500 animals of more than 510 species on more than 11 hectares (one hectare equals 10,000 square metres). This zoo was founded in 1858 and is the second oldest zoo in Germany, after the Berlin Zoo. It is located in the eastern part of the city. In addition, the park has vast and picturesque green views, where you see the animals running freely and without feeling confined, due to the large area of the park.
