Built in the 19th century, the Church of the Holy Trinity is one of the most famous churches in Porto, and forms part of the Hospital complex of the Third Order of the Holy Trinity, which was established in 1755 after the abolition of the Order of Saint Dominic. The church occupies a neoclassical building with some features from the Baroque tradition, and was designed by the military architect and military Carlos Amarante. Inside the church, visitors can notice the artistic quality of the decoration, particularly the marble work, the carved woodwork and the gilded altar panels.
