Alcantara Gate is the entry point to the old town and the historical center. It has Arab origins from the tenth century AD, and it has Spanish-Islamic military architecture. It was an important part of the city's defense during the Middle Ages, as it was the only entrance through which people and goods made their way to Toledo.
